Is Runn compatible with Garmin watches?
Yes! Runn is compatible with Garmin watches as long as they have the following features:
In order to get speed/distance/cadence/gain/incline data from the Runn, the watch and/or app needs to support the Stride Base Speed & Distance (SPD) ANT+ profile.
In order to get incline and elevation gain data from the Runn, the watch and/or app needs to support the ANT+ Fitness Equipment (FE-C) profile. A Connect IQ app or Connect IQ data field is required to receive the incline and elevation gain data. The North Pole Engineering Connect IQ Data Field for Runn supports Incline and Total Elevation Gain(both prositive and negative).
Please note, the Runn utilizes the ANT+ FE-C Treadmill Profile to send incline and elevation to the Garmin watch. If the watch pairs to this profile as a sensor, then this data will not be available to the North Pole Engineering Connect IQ Data Field for Runn, or any other Connect IQ applications that utilize this data. Please only connect to either the Bluetooth or ANT+ footpod signal from the Runn.
Is incline and elevation gain data stored to FIT Activity files and can I view it in Garmin Connect or other cloud platforms?
Yes – incline and elevation gain (+/-) are stored in FIT developer data fields directly inside of the FIT Activity file for both the workout session and per lap. Garmin Connect will display this data on the summary page under Connect IQ. Other platforms may or may not display this data correctly.
How do I add Runn as a sensor on my Garmin?
Is Runn compatible with Connect IQ?
Yes! Runn is compatible with Connect IQ apps and data fields as long as the support the features mentioned above.
Is there a Connect IQ data field for incline?
Yes! Here is the link to the incline data field for Runn that we created: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/6e90be3d-e880-4ece-aa27-3cd169143e3b
The updated incline app has the following options:
- Rotate Time: This is the time the Garmin watch will display each selected metric before rotating to the next. For example, if Incline and +’ve Elevation Gain are selected with a rotate time of 5 seconds, then the watch will display Incline % for 5 seconds then switch and show Gain(+) for 5 seconds, then switch back and repeat. If only 1 field is selected, the rotate time is ignored.
- Incline: This shows the current incline of your treadmill as measured by the Runn in % grade
- +’ve Elevation Gain: Total positive elevation gain in meters for the duration of the workout (Session and Lap summary data is stored in FIT Activity File)
- –‘ve Elevation Gain: Total negative elevation gain in meters for the duration of the workout. *Note* Gain(-) is only relevant if your treadmill is able to do negative incline. workout (Session and Lap summary data is stored in FIT Activity File)
Here's a video of how to get started:
Additional note, if you experience problems connecting to the Runn after installing the Connect IQ data field, please set the device id number to ‘0’ in the Connect IQ app and save the settings.
