Q: Does CABLE support multiple ANT+ sensors?
A: Yes, CABLE can track up to to five (5) unique ANT+/ANT sensor types and route the data to a variety of BLE services. The CABLE Config app is used to scan for active sensors and route the profile data to the BLE services of your choice (CPS, HRS, CSCS, RSCS, FTMS).
Q: Can CABLE combine ANT+ sensors into single BLE services?
A: Yes, CABLE enables routing of ANT+ profile data into individual or multiple BLE services.
Q: Does CABLE prioritize ANT+ sensor types?
A: CABLE can be setup to track a single instance of each type of supported ANT+ sensor. The ANT+ sensor profiles can then be routed to the appropriate BLE service. For example, if you have a 4iiii Precision power meter and you would like to use a Wahoo magnetless RPM sensor, you can pair the ANT+ Bike Power profile on the 4iiii device and the ANT+ Bike Cadence profile on the RPM and route the power from the 4iiii and the cadence from the RPM to the CPS generated by the CABLE. The fitness app on the mobile device will then use the power from the 4iiii and the cadence from the RPM. It is typically not possible to assign the priority using the BLE services from both devices. The routing of the ANT+ profiles to the BLE services is setup using the CABLEConfig app in the center tab routing section.
Q: How do I turn my CABLE on?
A: With the latest CABLE firmware update, 1.9.2, CABLE is always "on." Having your sensors activated and close will "wake up" your CABLE. The CABLE should automatically connect to your sensors, given that your have them set up through the CABLE Util app. With iOS 13.0 and later, you will need to enable Bluetooth Sharing for the CABLE Util app and your fitness app that you are using your CABLE with.
Q: How do I turn my CABLE off?
A: With the latest CABLE firmware update, 1.9.2, the CABLE does not turn off because it is always advertising, but it will disconnect to save battery once your sensors are turned off and you are completely closed out of the fitness app you are using. If you do not completely close out of apps that are connected to CABLE, your CABLE will be connected to the app still and be actively searching for your sensors to be on thus draining your battery.
Q: How do you attach, mount, or use CABLE during your workout?
A: CABLE should be located within three meters of your sensors and display device during your workout. We recommend mounting it on your bike with a zip-tie or carrying it in a saddle bag. It will work at longer distances, but it may periodically lose connection during a workout. For a list of compatible applications, see here.
Q: What does the LED indicate on the CABLE?
A: There is a single two-color LED in the CABLE.
- Single Green Flash/Min: CABLE battery is good & advertising BLE
- Single Red Flash/30 Seconds: CABLE battery is low & advertising BLE
- Single Green Flash/Second: All ANT+ sensors in Sensor Set 1 are tracking & BLE is connected
- Single Red Flash/Second: At least 1 ANT+ sensor in Sensor Set 1 is not tracking & BLE is connected
- Double Green Flash/Second: All ANT+ sensors in Sensor Set 2 are tracking & BLE is connected
- Double Red Flash/Second: At least 1 ANT+ sensor in Sensor Set 2 is not tracking & BLE is connected
- Triple Red Flash/Second: CABLE is scanning for ANT+ sensor & BLE is connected
NOTE: This flash pattern is for CABLEs on FW version 1.9.2
Q: Are there any known app compatibility issues with CABLE?
A: There are a couple of known app compatibility issues.
- TrainerRoad will only allow for one sensor to connect through CABLE.
- MapMyRide requires the user to reinstall in order to change sensors.
- Strava will discontinue Bluetooth syncing starting 10/28/2019.
Q: How can I be sure CABLE does not have an active BLE connection?
A: If the CABLE unit does not have an active BLE connection and it is turned on, it will have a single flash of the green LED once per minute.
Q: How close must my CABLE be to pair with my sensors?
A: The CABLE Util app will show all active ANT+ sensors in the vicinity of the CABLE while performing a scan for sensors. On the screen for selecting sensors, there is an indicator on the right side of each sensor which shows the signal strength. We recommend keeping the sensors within three meters to ensure stronger signal strength.
Q: How do I change the battery?
A: On the short end of the case, insert a coin, paperclip, or something similar, into the notch to snap open the case. Then replace the 2032-coin cell battery making sure the positive (+) side is face down in the battery slot. Then, snap the case back together, making sure the battery end connects with the negative terminal on the opposite half of the case.
Q: How long will CABLE run a fresh battery?
A: This is dependent on many factors. The largest consumer of energy in the CABLE is the radio searching for ANT+ sensors. If the CABLE is setup to track sensors that are not typically present when you are actively using it to monitor data it will have the red LED active and be consuming a maximum amount of energy. The search time will only be 40 seconds per sensor, but it will resume searching if it detects motion. Under normal operation tracking a couple ANT+ sensors you should expect the CABLE to last for months using it up to 10 hours a week.
Q: What should I do with a dead coin cell battery?
A: Please consult with your local recycling center for instructions on how you should dispose of your batteries.
Q: Can I have multiple heart rate monitors in the same set?
A: No, since there is only one BLE service for heart rate on the CABLE unit, only one heart rate monitor can be paired in a set. This is also true of other types of sensors.
Q: Does CABLE have a warranty?
A: You can find details on the twelve-month limited warranty in the Setup Guide or here.
