Data Transmission Delay/Lag to Zwift - New Apple TV 4K - (CABLE Connect ANT+ to Bluetooth)
Hello,
Is anyone else experiencing the same data delay when transmitting power data to Zwift on Apple TV 4k.
I am using my calibrated SRM power meter, as it's far more accurate than my Tacx Neo.
- Zwift for my uploaded training workouts
- Tacx Neo (Bluetooth)- For resistance and work out intervals
- SRM Power Meter (Ant+) for Power & Cadance data.
- CABLE - Connect ANT+ to Bluetooth (Transmitting SRM ANT+ power & cadence data. Current Firmware at the time of writing.
Zero offset both SRM & Cable so data should be accurate.
The delay when transmitting from the crankset to the Apple TV is extremely frustrating and maybe ok for anyone who is not doing any structured interval workouts.
I have tried all the assignment mode with FTMS mode experiencing the worst delay, at approximately 2 to 3 seconds to display accurate data on Zwift.
CPS mode is best of the bunch. But still, it is over a second to respond. So not great when my Mac with an Ant+ USB sensor is almost instant.
I would love to simplify my training room set-up and use my new Apple TV 4k. However with these delays and 100+ watt discrepancy at any time. It makes it not fit for my purpose.
Also, an on/off switch would be great to conserver the battery.
Sorry, but that just my experience. I would love for it to work, but I guess I will either revert back to an earlier Apple TV with a USB cable or use my Macbook Pro and live with all the wires.
Thanks,
-

Hello Erin,
Thanks for the prompt response. However I'm on the latest firmware, as I stated in the post. I made sure to update unit as soon as I received it, and is only 4 days old now.
Having done a bit more research and looking at other reviews etc on Amazon. I can see the data delay issue is not isolated to just one type of Ant+ power meter, but is far wider spread.
Please feel free to raise a ticket. Unfortunately, with the data delays, it just makes shorter training intervals a waste of time.
I brought the unit from the States, paid international shipping and additional taxes, which bumped up the overall cost.
I won't be returning it, but it is now in back in its box and I have reverted back to my laptop and Ant+ USB stick.
I'm sure it will be fine for anyone who doesn't do any interval training sessions or who has a power meter hooked up, so it's not noticeable.
Sorry for the negative press, but it is just my experience.
