Gem Retro Treadmill not reporting negative inclines

I have a Gem Retro configured for treadmills connected to a CSAFE port of a Precor 835 treadmill with a P31 console. Treadmill speed reports perfectly and inclines of 0 to 15% also report. However, when the treadmill incline is set to -1 to -3, an erroneous large number in the 600s reports. Is there a setting, work around, or firmware update that could help resolve negative incline reporting?

  Unfortunately the GEMRetro does not support negative incline currently.
