Watch app in background disconnects

The Apple Watch app used to transmit HR to the heartbeatz unit when the app was running in the background, but since Watch App Version “2.0 (45)” I have found the app has to remain the active app or it stops transmitting. Is it just me or is everyone seeing this behaviour? If so is this backward step going to be fixed?

  This seems to be the current functionality. I commented on this issue a couple beta versions back. Honestly this might be a deal breaker for me.

  It’s crazy! I’m all for new versions when they make improvements but when functionality is removed at least make the old app available for those who want to stick with it, especially as it runs locally and doesn’t need to connect to the company’s servers :-/
